EMERGENCY planning experts are set to offer flood prevention advice.
Spen Valley residents and visitors to Cleckheaton Farmers’ Market will be given information on how to prepare for floods and severe weather.
Environment Agency and Kirklees officers will be manning a stand at the market next to Cleckheaton Town Hall tomorrow. They will talk to people about how they can adapt to the challenges of climate change.
The team will be available to talk to residents at the stall between 9am and 1pm, and will be visiting homes in Cleckheaton and Liversedge throughout the day.
Environment Agency officer Graham Lindsey said: “Last year we introduced a flood warning service for Spen Beck, so we want to make sure people are registered for this free service. Whether it is flooding, heavy snow or storms, local emergency responders will always have to prioritise those in greatest need, focusing where life is in danger.
“It is vital therefore that individuals and communities take action to protect themselves and each other until any other assistance can be provided.”Web: www.westyorksprepared.gov.uk
