A SOLDIER has been recognised for his charity work.
Joe Queening, 24, of Holmfirth, walked the length of the country, from Land’s End to John O’Groats, to raise money for Help for Heroes.
And he received the Swayne Memorial Prize in recognition of his work for the military charity.
The award was presented to the former Holmfirth High School pupil by Sandhurst commandant Major General Patrick Marriott.
Joe, a former Greenhead College student, graduated from the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst this summer.
He and 270 other officers took part in the passing out ceremony this month.
The lieutenant has now joined the Royal Tank Regiment as a troop commander.
Joe will go to Dorset this month to start a six-month troop commander course before going on detachment to his regiment.
