Lepton teen Joshua Boothroyd banned from driving

A LEPTON teenager is facing a 12-month driving ban after being found guilty of riding his moped with no insurance.

Joshua Boothroyd, 18, of Ings Way, appeared at Huddersfield Magistrates’ Court yesterday charged with three motoring offences.

The court heard how on March 21 he was seen riding his moped in Ings Way by police. He was later charged with driving a motor vehicle other than in accordance with his licence, use of a motor vehicle without a valid test certificate and without third party insurance.

The court heard how he was convicted in his absence at Huddersfield Magistrates’ Court on August 18. Boothroyd told the court he had been running the moped with a view to check if it was working properly ahead of a prospective sale. Magistrates also imposed a fine of £250 including £85 costs.
