Huddersfield disturbances: CCTV images from attacks on Top Club, Sheepridge, Home Start in Dalton and Deighton's Chestnut centre

DETECTIVES have launched a fresh appeal to hunt down troublemakers who took part in the Huddersfield disturbances.

New images of people who took part in the disorder have been released following the troubles last month.

Further CCTV images of the properties worst hit by the violence and looting, sparked by the riots in London, Birmingham and Manchester, have also been released.

West Yorkshire Police have already arrested dozens of yobs and vandals who smashed windows, started fires and attacked officers amid the worst outbreaks of public disorder in town for decades.

A special inquiry, dubbed Operation Ringway, was launched following the unrest in the region, with Huddersfield police arresting almost 50 people – more than anywhere else in West Yorkshire.

Det Chief Insp Andy White, who is leading the Huddersfield investigation, said they were renewing efforts to catch people who committed some of the worst offences during the August 9 and 10 turmoil.

He said: “We are now releasing more CCTV material of the incidents that took place at the Chestnut Medical Centre, the Top Club and the Home Start centre (above).

“These were some of the more serious incidents that were experienced that week and we are therefore especially determined to ensure that all of these offenders are brought to justice.

“A dedicated team of officers has been working extremely hard to investigate these offences of disorder, burglary and arson, trawling through hundreds of hours of CCTV to identify possible suspects.

“This, as well as the excellent relationships between communities and local police has proved invaluable in the recovery of crucial evidence and in the identification and arrest of suspects.

“To date we have arrested 49 people and without the support of the community, we would have been unable to act so decisively.”
