THEY’RE planning to brew beer again at a Huddersfield pub.

The cellars at the Rat & Ratchet in Chapel Hill have been turned back into a micro brewery – with the beer starting to flow by the end of the month.

It is seven years since the pub brewed its own ale.

And news of the revival comes as a new survey shows the massive upsurge in local breweries.

The 39th edition of CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide has today been launched with the news that the real ale scene in Yorkshire is thriving.

While nationally there are now 840 breweries operational, with 99 starting life over the past 12 months, in Yorkshire there are now a whopping 98 breweries, with 16 coming on stream during the same period.

The survey also shows that the number of drinkers around the nation having tried real ale has risen by 40% in just five years.
