A TROUBLE-HIT bar in Huddersfield has been shut down.
Licensing officers have agreed to a police request to immediately shut That Bar in King Street after repeated problems.
And the bar – run by rugby player Phil Joseph – will not be able to re-open until a full licensing hearing is convened within the next four weeks.
The shutdown order was issued yesterday afternoon, after further police inquiries at the bar.
The decision came less than two months after the bar had been given a reprieve by councillors, following earlier reports of problems and violence.
In August, councillors were told that the bar had stayed open more than six hours after it should have closed.
Councillors heard how drinkers left That Bar at King Street at 10.30am one morning in July.
But the councillors decided to allow the bar to continue trading.
Now, however, it has had to shut its doors.
Sgt Mandy Mellor, of the town centre policing team, said: “We do our best to work with pubs and clubs in Huddersfield but there is only so much we can do.
“We have had a number of problems at That Bar and have now prepared an updated report for the council’s Licensing Panel.
