POLICE were last night hunting an arsonist after a blaze in Birkby.

Fire crews were called out yesterday afternoon to a fire in a house under renovation in Jack Hill.

Flames swept through the partially-renovated house and damaged roof timbers before being brought under control by two Huddersfield fire crews.

They had been called at 3pm and spent an hour at the scene.

Watch Commander Andy Blackburn confirmed the cause of the blaze was suspicious and said details had been passed to West Yorkshire Police.
