Huddersfield residents campaign for Bradley doctor’s surgery at site of former pub

A CAMPAIGN for a new doctors’ surgery to be built at the site of a disused pub is growing in support.

Residents of all ages turned out in force yesterday at the former Badger pub on Bradley Road to show their support for a new practice.

NHS Kirklees said yesterday they do not have the resources for a new surgery.

But now residents have gathered 400 signatures to show the strength of feeling for the much-needed facility.

Manjit Singh, prospective Lib Dem candidate for the Bradley ward, said: “I know this issue has been raised a number of times but it is still outstanding and the needs of the people of Bradley seem to be ignored.

“There are some 4,000 people living in Bradley and the nearest surgery is not big enough to cope with such numbers and is some distance for most residents.

“It has been suggested that a suitable location could be at the former Badger Hotel on Bradley Road.

“This location is central and serves both the older estates and newer houses.

“It has good access from the main road.
