Truelove on crime: six burglaries in Deighton in a weekend

ROBBERIES and burglaries are two of our top priority crimes to tackle, but we have seen an increase this month already and Deighton was particularly targeted at the weekend.

These crimes often increase as we move from the summer into the autumn and winter months.

So far this month, we have seen an increase in the number of burglaries being reported across Kirklees.

In Deighton, for example, there were six burglaries on Saturday night and Sunday morning.

Between 6pm on Saturday and 11am on Sunday morning, three houses were burgled on Keldregate with two more being targeted on Ochrewell Avenue. The sixth took place at a house on Warrenside.

Stolen from one of the properties on Warrenside was a silver Toyota Aygo.

A Nintendo Wii and a 50ins TV were also stolen from one of the addresses on Keldregate.

Nothing was taken from any of the other four properties.

All of the homes were within a stone’s throw of each other, so we suspect that the burglaries were carried out by the same suspects who could have been targeting the homes due to the predominantly elderly residents living in the area.

We are carrying out increased patrols in Deighton since these crimes took place and are appealing for anyone with information to contact us.

Similarly, anyone who is offered any suspected stolen goods for sale should call the police or Crimestoppers.
