A TOWN centre coffee shop is set to host a Sunday “church” service with a difference.

Paddock-based Community Church is staging Sunday Night Live at Costa Coffee in New Street.

The event, taking place on the first Sunday of every month, will showcase live music and entertainment by local Christian performers.

The first event is on Sunday with singer/songwriter Mark Stone. Doors open at 6.30pm with the performance beginning at 7pm.

Chris Haygarth, of Community Church, said: “If you thought church was all about hard pews, glum faces and ancient hymns – think again!

“The events are open to anyone who enjoys great music served up with coffee and cakes.”

Sunday Night Live is the idea of TV actor Johnny Kinch, who has appeared in dramas including The Bill and Doctors.
