SINGER Ashford Campbell was singled out for praise on a night which saw X Factor band Nu Vibe kicked out of the show.

Ashford, of Lowerhouses, is one fifth of band Nu Vibe along with fellow Huddersfield member Jordan Higo.

The duo sang their hearts out live on Saturday night performing their own rendition of U2’s With or Without You.

But it wasn’t enough to secure public votes to guarantee them a place in next week’s show and they ended up in a sing-off showdown with Frankie.

Nu Vibe chose to sing Cheryl Cole’s Promise This but they were sent home by Gary Barlow, Kelly Rowland and Louis Walsh.

Tearful mentor Tulisa said: “I am so disappointed, I had so much belief in these boys. I took a chance and they worked hard and they gave everything.”

Opening Saturday’s show, Jordan, of Crosland Moor, started the song with Ashford taking up the lead vocals.

But it wasn’t enough to impress two of the X Factor’s judges. Louis Walsh and Gary Barlow both said the band had ‘no vibe’ on the second week of the live finals.
