A SHOOTING drama led to police sealing off a large part of Rawthorpe.
And now a massive police investigation, including a fingertip search, is under way to catch the culprits.
Officers were first called to the main road through Rawthorpe – Rawthorpe Lane – just before 2.15pm yesterday. thurs
They had responded to reports of a firearms incident and a car had been damaged.
Rawthorpe Lane was closed for more than 300ft from the junction of Ridgeway towards Rawthorpe Junior School, Longfield Avenue from the junction of Ridgeway for 300ft and by the Dalton Pub to the bottom junction with North Carr.
Det Sgt Nigel Griffiths told the Examiner at the scene: "We received a call from a member of the public at around 2.15pm to reports of fire arms discharge and damage to a vehicle.
"We deployed officers to the area and three streets have been cordoned off.
"We have carried out house to house enquires and a fingertip search of the area."
He was unable to confirm at this stage the damage to the vehicle but said no arrests had been made.
