Huddersfield singer Ashford Campbell says The Risk hope to stick together
THE journey does not end here, says X-Factor comeback boy Ashford Campbell.
Having been voted off the show twice, the Huddersfield singer and his boyband The Risk have vowed to stay together.
Fans were shocked when the group, who only last week had been deemed show favourites, got the boot in a double elimination on Sunday night.
Ashford’s mum Bernadette Baptiste said: “We are miffed and surprised.
“I think people were shocked when the boys went.
“I haven’t had much of a chance to speak to Ashford but I believe they are going to stay together. If they didn’t I would be very surprised.
“They are all staying really positive and they have had some fantastic support throughout the show from the public.
“You don’t have to be in the X Factor until the end to get where you want to be.
“I have had a look at their Twitter page and they have had some responses from people who are baffled by what has happened.”
Bernadette was suffering from a hoarse voice after cheering and screaming for The Risk’s rendition of Shalamar’s ‘A Night to Remember’.
Although Ashford’s dad had a long-standing work commitment, his two aunts Sheila and Beverley Higgins, uncle Rupert Campbell, brother Sunderland striker Fraizier Campbell and his girlfriend Emma Normanton all came to watch the live shows over the weekend.
Ashford, of Lowerhouses, entered the competition as a solo artist but was put in band Nu Vibe with fellow Huddersfield singer Jordan Higo by mentor Tulisa.
