A HUDDERSFIELD mother has denied being responsible for the life-threatening injuries which led to her toddler undergoing surgery.
The woman, who cannot be named to protect her child’s identity, was being questioned yesterday by the barrister acting for 29-year-old Daniel Joyce.
The prosecution has alleged that Joyce, of Bankfield Road, Longroyd Bridge, Huddersfield, stamped on the toddler’s stomach causing damage to his bowel.
Joyce has denied causing grievous bodily harm to the child with intent and an alternative allegation of causing GBH.
During cross-examination by Joyce’s barrister Michelle Colborne QC, the boy’s mum denied making things up in her statements or evidence to the jury.
“Is your son wrong when he says you were present when he got injured?” asked Miss Colborne.
“I wasn’t present”, said the mum.
