DISCOUNT stores firm Poundland is to recruit 2,000 temporary staff to work in the run-up to Christmas.
And it will include five or six jobs in each of the two Huddersfield stores.
The chain has stores in New Street and Victoria Lane. The jobs, for sales assistants, will run until Christmas Eve, although last year 500 temporary staff became full-time employees.
Poundland said the response from jobseekers had been “fantastic”, with 500 people applying for 30 vacancies in Walsall.
Chief executive Jim McCarthy said: “We need five or six extra colleagues in each store to help us cope with the busiest time of the year. We’re looking for applicants with enthusiasm and determination, and people who are hard-working to help deliver amazing value and service to our customers.”
Poundland said it was now serving more than four million customers every week at 360 stores.
