Two art shows open in Huddersfield at the Galpharm Stadium and Bates Mill

TWO major art shows have opened in Huddersfield.

One features a variety of work by many local artists while the other is a striking exhibition by a well-known artist based in Huddersfield.

The Pals annual exhibition was opened at the Galpharm Stadium leisure centre by Clr Christine Iredale, Deputy Mayor of Kirklees.

Over 50 watercolour and acrylics are displayed in the reception area.

The exhibition features the work of the members of Kirklees Pals (Practice Active Leisure Scheme), a programme designed to improve people’s health through regular physical exercise.

Four years ago, two Pals members launched the art group to give people a means of improving their wellbeing through the relaxation of drawing and painting. The group now has nearly 30 members and has been opened up to anyone, not just those in Pals.
