A MAN found guilty of stamping on a toddler’s stomach will today receive a significant prison sentence.
Daniel Joyce, 29, of Bankfield Road, Longroyd Bridge, had denied causing life-threatening injuries to the youngster at a Huddersfield house last year.

But a jury at Bradford Crown Court yesterday afternoon convicted him of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
The attack to the toddler’s stomach caused him life-threatening internal injuries and the tot underwent major surgery at Leeds General Infirmary, where his bowel was repaired. Joyce was in a relationship with the boy’s mother at the time.
During Joyce’s trial the victim made legal history by becoming the youngest person to give evidence in a criminal court at the age of just four.
But Judge Jonathan Rose was told that since taking part in the hearing over a television link the boy had reverted back to showing signs of distress and “acting out” with toys.
