A GANG of women dragged a grandmother by her hair into the middle of the road and viciously attacked her.

Janet Morley, of Salendine Nook, was kicked and punched by a group of up to seven women in an unprovoked attack outside a Huddersfield pub.

Having just returned from the trip of a lifetime in Mexico, the 51-year-old was still in ‘holiday spirit’ and decided to go for a quiet drink with her partner in their local pub, the Black Bull at Lindley.

As the pub closed, she headed outside to get her taxi and was set upon by the large group of women aged around 25, who later jumped in nearby vehicles and hastily fled the scene.

She said: “It had been a really good night, we had been talking to a few people we knew and had had a nice time.

“It got to closing time so I rang a taxi and they rang back to say they were there, so we went outside.

“There was a group of six or seven girls standing in the entrance and I thought they were just waiting for a taxi.

“As I was crossing the road, one girl grabbed me by the hair from behind and pulled me on to the road.

“The others followed and joined in.

“I don’t really know what happened, I don’t know whether I passed out or what, but they viciously attacked me in the middle of the road.

“I can’t remember anything other than being hit by more than one person, it all happened so quick.

“Some ran into another taxi across the road and then three of them got in this van which had Floor to Ceiling Wardrobes across it.

“My partner desperately tried to call another taxi and, when we got home, we called the police.

“I just don’t understand it, there was no reason for it. I had not seen them all night, I had not spoken to them or even really noticed them as we were leaving the pub.
