HUDDERSFIELD MP Barry Sheerman has been chosen as co-chairman of a new regional lobby group.

He will share the duties with Goole MP Andrew Percy.

The new group covers the Yorkshire and Humber region and will meet on a regular basis to lobby for the region.

Mr Sheerman said: “It started when we had a meeting about wind power and realised we had no official regional voice.

“We decided to get together and now we have an all-party group who will be able to discuss issues such as unemployment, investment, industry and energy, as well as more practical matters like attracting businesses and tourists to the region.”
