CANINES can have their very own dog’s dinner at The Travellers Rest.

That’s because the Meltham pub has started a ‘Mutts’ Menu’.

Most dogs would be lucky to get a bowl of water down the pub.

But at the Slaithwaite Road tavern they can choose between ‘28-day aged pig’s ear’, fried sausages, bones and biscuits.

You’d think the landlords were barking mad but the Mutts’ Menu has been a tail-wagging success.

The canine carte is part of the revamp the pub is undergoing.

Landlady Samantha Falck said: “We’ve an area in the pub away from the restaurant and we saw people throwing their dogs pork scratchings and scraps on the floor.

“We’ve had quite a lot of takers. We only put it on for a gimmick and we’ve sold quite of a lot of them.”

The Travellers Rest hosts a wine tasting night on January 27, followed by a fundraising race night for Kirkwood Hospice on February 3 and a live music night the following day.
