BUILDERS have been seen working on a vacant pub – but plans for the premises have still not been revealed.

The Grey Horse pub off the busy Halifax Road at Birchencliffe has been closed for almost 18 months now.

Having shut its doors in September 2010, former landlords Enterprise Inns sold it to a private buyer in January last year.

In June last year an application to run a car wash on the site was put before planners at Kirklees Council.

Mr Sajid Hussain, of Rordin Heights, Brackenhall, wanted to use the empty car park to employ four people to wash cars.

But two months later in August the plan was withdrawn.

Mr Hussain is believed to have ditched the plan because of concerns about water pollution and traffic congestion.

Six months on and minor clearance work has taken place but the future of the site is still unknown.
