ANOTHER supermarket could be heading to the Holme Valley.
Talks are believed to be under way regarding a main road site in Honley.
But supermarket chain Morrisons is staying tight-lipped about its alleged interest in land off Woodhead Road, Honley.
The land is currently occupied by Keith Drake agricultural merchants and Kirklees Council’s highways depot.
It is believed a deal between the land’s owners who run the feed firm, Kirklees Council and Morrisons is being negotiated.
Limes Developments, a Lincoln-based firm which specialises in buying land for supermarkets, is thought to be in discussion with Morrisons.
But Morrisons has refused to confirm or deny it has any plans for the site.
A spokesman for Morrisons said: “We are always looking for sites which would be suitable for Morrisons stores but would not wish to comment further at this stage.”
The plot of land – and potential developments on it – have been the source of many rumours in Honley.
It is believed Tesco had put an offer in for the site in June, but it was turned down.
