A CHURCH service will take place to launch the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations in West Yorkshire.
The Lord Lieutenant for West Yorkshire, Dr Ingrid Roscoe, will host the service on Sunday, February 12 at Halifax Minster. She will welcome representatives of all West Yorkshire authorities.
The Halifax Minster choirs will be joined by Huddersfield University’s Brass Band.
The service will be led by the Rev Canon Hilary Barber with the Lord Bishop of Wakefield, the Rt Rev Stephen Platten, giving the address. It will conclude with fireworks.
Dr Roscoe said:
“The response has been overwhelming and there are many exciting plans afoot for special events to be held in Her Majesty’s honour.”
The Queen came to the throne on February 6 1952. The country will have an extended bank holiday weekend of June 2, 3, 4 and 5.
