Rugby star Keith Senior contemplates legal fight against former Super League club Crusaders

SUPER League veteran Keith Senior is considering legal action over his career.

The Huddersfield-born player has instructed lawyer Stephen Taylor-Heath, of Eatons Solicitors, to investigate legal redress against the RFL and the former directors and chief executive of defunct Super League club Crusaders.

The former Leeds Rhinos and England centre had signed with the Crusaders in June last year in reliance on promises as to the club’s future.

But less than a month later the club withdrew its application for a Super League licence. The club managed to fulfil its fixtures to the end of the season but went into liquidation last year.

The 35-year-old player has now been left without a club for the new Super League season – the first he has missed.

Senior had hoped to become the only player to figure in all 17 seasons of Super League.

He was offered a pay-as-you-play deal to stay on with the Rhinos.

And the Deighton-born back confirmed he was in talks with Hull KR coach Craig Sandercock over a possible move to Craven Park, after the collapse of the Crusaders.

He is currently recovering from leg surgery but said: “My specialist says I should be back fully fit by March”.
