A MAN accused of using a spy pen to film his stepdaughter faces crown court trial.

The 46-year-old appeared before Kirklees magistrates sitting in Huddersfield yesterday.

He faces 19 charges of making indecent images of children, recording another doing a private act for sexual gratification and possession of indecent images.

An earlier court hearing was told that the man, who now lives in Bradford, made the images of his university student stepdaughter and two children in his care.

The alleged offences were said to have been uncovered when the girl returned home and found a spy pen camera in the bathroom.

Police allegedly found images of the student going to the toilet as well as images of two children staying with the family.

The man was also alleged to have contacted a girl on a social networking site and taken pictures of her naked.

The alleged offences took place between January 2010 and April 2011 in Huddersfield.

Magistrates agreed to commit the man to Bradford Crown Court charged with 10 of these offences.

His first hearing at the court will be on March 26.

Magistrates were also asked to agree another hearing next week to commit him on a further nine allegations to the court.

The additional charges were laid in the magistrates’ court during the man’s last appearance in January.

These are seven allegations of possession of an indecent photograph of a child or children and two allegations of voyeurism.

The man is still yet to enter a plea as to what his plea will be.

He will next appear before magistrates on February 13, when the second set of offences will likely be committed to the crown court.

His bail conditions are that he does not enter Huddersfield as defined by the ring road or named streets.

He is also banned from having or using electronic devices with internet access or social networking sites.

Finally, he is banned from contact with children under 18.
