Huddersfield Town cyclists up for the Pedal for Pounds challenge

WE’RE ready for the challenge!

That was the message from 300 cyclists – all set to raise tens of thousands of pounds for charity.

The cyclists planning to undertake Huddersfield Town’s Pedal for Pounds bike ride met up for the first time.

The teams were given a run-down about the 260-mile bike ride from Yeovil in Somerset to the Galpharm Stadium in May.

And many were left inspired after hearing stories of last year’s success of the ride to Brighton.

Town’s commercial director Sean Jarvis said: “There will be some dark moments, there will be some tough moments and some lovely moments even when it is tiring.

“But if anybody in this room has started to have a doubt, it will feel completely insignificant that moment you finish, that moment you walk into that stadium is something very special.

“All the hard work and the fundraising and the- three-and-a-half days will all be worth it.

“Think not what your club can do for you, but what can you do for your club.

“We are very proud of everybody in this room and this journey is going to be great.”

Mr Jarvis explained how the number of cyclists has continued to grow, with the initial bike ride starting with 22 riders.

Teams have been organised into colours and each team will wear the same blue shirt, with their colour on the sleeve.

Money raised will go toward the Yorkshire Air Ambulance’s Keep It Up campaign and the club’s Academy.
