ALLOWANCES for councillors will be set next week.
Calderdale councillors will set the rate for 2012/13 which would see them get a basic allowance of £9,931.
It continues the 5% reduction on basic and special responsibility allowances for the current financial year.
The leader of the council, Clr Janet Battye (Liberal Democrat) will receive an allowance of £29,794, if the figures are backed next Thursday.
The deputy leader, Clr Tim Swift (Labour) would receive £14,897 with Cabinet members getting £11,918.
Further allowances are given for being the chair of a scrutiny panel (£7,448) chair of the planning committee (£8,939) and chair of the licensing and regulatory committee (£5,958).
The leader of the largest minority party group would get £11,918 – in Calderdale it is the Conservatives as the council is a Labour/Liberal Democrat coalition.
The issue will be discussed at Wednesday’s full council meeting at Halifax Town Hall at 6pm.
