A TEENAGER will appear in court after comments were posted on Facebook about the deaths of six soldiers in Afghanistan.

Azhar Ahmed, 19, from Ravensthorpe has been charged with racially aggravated public order offences and will appear before Dewsbury magistrates next Tuesday.

Police were contacted when the comments were posted on Ahmed’s Facebook page after six soldiers – including Cpl Jake Hartley, Pte Daniel Wilford and Pte Anton Frampton from Huddersfield – were killed when their Warrior armoured vehicle was blown up by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan exactly a week ago. Ahmed was arrested on Friday and charged the following day after he had been questioned by police.

Ahmed, of Fir Avenue, Ravensthorpe, has been bailed to an address outside of West Yorkshire.
