POLICE have made a new appeal for help in trapping a gang who targeted teenagers in Longwood.
They are appealing for witnesses to the assault which took place on February 26, between 3pm and 4pm.
A 15-year old boy and a 17-year old girl were walking near Longwood Tower, Longwood Edge, when they were approached by a group of seven youths.
Two boys from the group – a mixture of boys and girls aged between 13 and 17 – made rude sexual comments towards the victims and then asked the 15-year old boy for his phone.
When the boy refused, he was followed and then assaulted. He escaped the group but then had stones thrown at him and his friend before the suspects left the area. The boy received minor injuries as a result.
The victims were helped at the scene by dog walkers.
Police are now appealing for any witnesses to contact PC 2815 Rosaleen McCaffrey at Holmfirth police station by phoning 101.
