HUDDERSFIELD’S heroes of Afghanistan will be laid to rest next week.
Funerals for the three Yorkshire Regiment soldiers will all take place in the town.
The service for Corporal Jake Hartley, 20, will be at Christ Church, New Mill, at 1.30pm on Monday, April 30.
The service for Private Anton Frampton, 20, of Longwood, will be at Huddersfield Parish church on Wednesday, May 2 at noon.
And Huddersfield Parish Church will be in use again on Friday May 4, when the service for Private Daniel Wilford, 21, of Cowlersley, will be held at 12.30pm.
Details of the services for the three Huddersfield troops and their three comrades killed in a Taliban blast were all announced yesterday.
All six soldiers were killed on March 6 when their Warrior armoured vehicle ran over a bomb.
The others who died were Sgt Nigel Coupe, of Lytham St Annes; Private Daniel Wade, of Warrington; and Private Christopher Kershaw, of Bradford.
The soldiers were repatriated last month through RAF Brize Norton and the Oxfordshire town of Carterton, but the families have had to wait until the Coroner has finished his initial inquiries before the services can take place.
Five of the men, including the three Huddersfield soldiers, were serving with 3rd Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment.
Sgt Coupe was on secondment to the regiment from 1st Battalion The Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment.
News of the funerals has come as a relief for the families and friends of the victims.
