A £7m plan to bring in Oyster Card-style ticketing for buses across West Yorkshire will be considered tomorrow.
Members of West Yorkshire transport organisers, Metro, will decide on the next step towards the swipecard tickets.
Metro, along with local bus operators, recently made a successful bid to the Department for Transport for almost £5m to develop West Yorkshire’s smartcard network.
The report to Friday’s executive board meeting of the West Yorkshire Integrated Transport Network, sets out how this money, along with operators’ actions and some Local Transport Plan funding will be used.
It could include making the tickets available through local shops and vending machines and an online ‘top up’ service.
Almost 400 smaller operators’ buses would be fitted with smartcard readers.
