TELECOM giant BT’s investment in super-fast broadband is set to give a massive boost to the West Yorkshire economy, claims a report.
The independent study by Regeneris Consulting predicts the high-speed technology will help create thousands of jobs and new start-up businesses in the next 15 years – generating millions of pounds for the regional economy.
It said the investment will allow existing firms to run more efficiently and to develop new products and services. It will also make it easier for new businesses to get started through increasing use of innovations.
The report predicts that over the next 15 years BT’s super-fast broadband investment could give the economy of a typical town a £143m boost, create 225 new jobs and help launch 140 new start-ups.
