Will Aid raises £2.1m for charities

SOLICITORS waiving their fees for writing wills in exchange for a charitable donation have raised more than £2m for charity.

Huddersfield town centre law firms Chadwick Lawrence and Oates Hanson as well as Birkby-based Wills, Probate & More were among those taking part in Will Aid during November – inviting people to put their affairs in order by getting a professionally-written will and making a donation to Will Aid charities instead of paying a fee.

Nationally, the campaign raised £2.1m and encouraged 26,000 people to make a will with a solicitor.

Money raised is being used by charities including Save the Children, Christian Aid, ActionAid, Age UK, British Red Cross, NSPCC and Sightsavers.
