HUDDERSFIELD chef Barrington Douglas is out to impress in the first episode of a new TV cookery competition.
Barrington, who has already appeared on television alongside Gordon Ramsey and Gary Rhodes, is among the contestants in Marco Pierre White’s Kitchen Wars which starts on Channel 5 tomorrow.
The owner of the Discovery Bay Caribbean restaurant in Wood Street teams up with his restaurant manager, Eleanor Dennis, for the series which pits 12 teams of two in a contest to prepare and serve a meal to a group of diners.
Auditions took place on a specially-built mobile kitchen with Marco providing advice and encouragement to the teams. The finals were filmed in a studio restaurant in London.
The show aims to find the UK’s best restaurant partnerships – balancing fabulous food with seamless service.
Barrington is seen preparing his signature dish of jerk fillet of cod on a bed of savoy cabbage with pancetta.
Barrington has had a passion for cooking since he was 12, watching his mother cook Caribbean meals using family recipes passed down from generations.
