“We arrested five people in Huddersfield and three more in Leeds on suspicion of violent disorder yesterday and there are further arrests to come.

“We have a further five individuals from Huddersfield identified on CCTV.

“Officers in Leeds have also visited homes in their area and arrested three suspects who have now been interviewed in Huddersfield.

“Further arrests are imminent and will be made across Huddersfield, Leeds and Bradford.”

Speaking of the overall operation he added: “We went around the town centre and collected CCTV from around 10 premises.

“As a team we sat down and analysed the images to establish offenders seen to be involved.

“The images are then passed to football intelligence officers and used to identify those involved.”

He said they had received several calls from the public following the release of CCTV images and said further work is now ongoing.
