A GANG of thugs travelled from London to Huddersfield – to attack a man over a debt.

A court heard how Mohammed Hassan was subjected to an ordeal lasting several hours after being confronted in his home over the debt.

Bradford Crown Court heard yesterday how the three men came up from the capital last November to try and recover the debt which was allegedly owed to a friend.

Prosecutor John Bull told Bradford Crown Court how one of the gang, Troy Carty, 44, kicked in a bedroom door at Mr Hassan’s home in Springwood Street and then punched him in the face.

Mr Bull said the victim was asked where the money was and various electrical items were taken in lieu of the cash.

Mr Hassan was then taken to an ATM where he withdrew £300 before his card was taken from him and a further £100 was removed from his account.

Mr Bull said the victim was then driven to Grimsby, but he was later brought back to Huddersfield. Police were alerted that night and a car containing Carty, his accomplice Ossie Corlis, 33, and a third man was stopped by officers in South Yorkshire.
