Pensioner got stuck in bog
FIREMEN helped rescue a 77-year-old woman after she got stuck in a bog on the Kirklees Way. The pensioner had been out walking with her friend near Cote Lane, between Ainley Top and Rastrick, when she sunk knee- deep into a muddy bog. She made attempts to release herself, but after nearly a two-hour struggle, her elderly friend called on fire crews for assistance. The firemen arrived at the spot, which is just off New Hey Road at around 11.55am. Crew Commander Matthew Green said: “It took a while to find the woman, but when we arrived we discovered she was stuck fast, it took three firemen to help pull her out. It didn’t take us very long, maybe about 10 to 15 minutes, but it required all the strength of the men.”
