ORGANISERS of a string of Huddersfield events were forced to cancel due to the terrible weather.
It meant yet another weekend washout for thousands after previous cancellations of events such as Honley Show and Harden Moss sheepdog trials.
Race for Life in Huddersfield and one of Huddersfield's biggest outdoor concerts were just two of the events which have been rained off.
Elland Carnival which was due to be held today at Boxhall playing fields has also been cancelled.
Around 2,600 women were expected to descend on Leeds Road Playing Fields for tomorrow’s Race For Life event, which last year raised £145,000 for Cancer Research UK.
But due to heavy rain the 5k course has been deemed unsuitable and to ensure the safety of all involved both the 10.30am and 2.30pm races have been postponed.
Race for Life spokeswoman Helen Webster told the Examiner: “We did a site visit on Thursday and again Friday morning and it is just too wet and unfit for the event to go ahead.
“As yet we do not have a new date but urge those who were due to take part to check our website in the coming days.
“We hope competitors understand our predicament and are able to participate in the rescheduled event.”
