An 19-year-old man who was stabbed to death in a frenzied attack in Marsden had been visiting from Scotland prior to the tragedy.

Detectives yesterday launched a murder inquiry after the Scottish teenager died in Huddersfield Royal Infirmary  hours after the attack which happened in the early hours of Saturday morning.

A second man, 18, remains seriously ill in hospital.

The teens, who are both from Renfrewshire, had been enjoying an evening in Marsden village with another man prior to the frenzied attack near to Town Gate and Old Mount Road.

A large area of the village was sealed off yesterday to allow forensic officers to examine the scene.

A 36-year-old man and 21-year-old man have been arrested and are currently in custody.

Police are urging anyone who has information regarding the murder to contact them on 101.
