A TEENAGER is fighting for his life after a car smash in Upper Hopton.

The 15-year-old boy was riding his bike along Hopton Avenue when he crashed with a car.

A police spokesman said: "We were called to the incident, which we believed to be a road traffic collision between a car and a bicycle at 7.37am.

"The cyclist was a 15-year-old male and he was taken to Leeds General Infirmary via air ambulance with serious injuries."

At 6pm, police confirmed the boy remained in a serious condition at LGI.

Any witnesses are asked to call Southern Area Roads Policing Unit on 101.
