A HUDDERSFIELD photographer is preparing for an Olympic challenge of his own.

John Woods needs to photograph 2,012 local people as part of a national project.

John, who is based in Byram Arcade, is among 22 photographers who have been chosen to take part in the Great British Portrait Marathon.

The free event – which takes place on August 10, 11 and 12 – has been designed to coincide with the London Olympics marathon event.

John will have just 26 hours to complete the task – meaning he needs to take a photograph every 44 seconds.

He now needs groups and individuals to strike their poses to star in the project – which will raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

John said: "The Great British Portrait Marathon is a chance to do something really unusual for charity.
