A MAN has been banned from keeping animals after he kicked his puppy out of a lift.

And shortly after the attack Mark Marsden was witnessed on CCTV throwing the 22-week-old bull terrier after it failed to go to the toilet.

The details of the violence on the pet, named Chico, was revealed at Kirklees Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The Huddersfield bench was told that Marsden lashed out at the puppy at his then home in Bishop’s Court in Berry Brow.

Andrew Davidson, prosecuting on behalf of the RSPCA, said that the first incident happened at 11am on September 18.

He said: “He was witnessed by two members of staff on CCTV in the lift of the property with his dog.

“The CCTV shows the dog in the corner of the lift and him attacking the dog with his foot.

“As the doors opened he kicked the dog out of the lift, propelling it out.”

Magistrates were told that later that day Marsden, 30, hurt his pet again outside the block of flats.

Mr Davidson said: “He was captured outside picking the dog up around the neck and throwing it across the grass for two metres.

“Members of staff described this as a hard, aggressive manner.

“The dog got up, but looked shaken.
