Two men in court accused of murdering Mirfield man Josh Hirst
TWO men have appeared in court accused of murdering Mirfield man Josh Hirst.
The 20-year-old was stabbed in Hepworth Lane at 11pm on Friday.
Yesterday Arron Smith and Joe Church appeared before Kirklees magistrates.
Smith, 18, of Savile Street in Emley, and Church, 21, of Redlands Close in Mirfield, are jointly charged with murder.
The men also face a charge of without lawful excuse having in a public place an offensive weapon, a knife.
Alex Bozman, prosecuting, said that Josh was attacked in Grove Street, a small cul-de-sac behind Hepworth Lane in a largely residential area of Mirfield.
Smith and Church spoke only to confirm their names, ages and addresses.
Flanked by three security guards in the dock, they did not enter a plea at the three-minute hearing.
Magistrates told them that their first appearance before Leeds Crown Court will be tomorrow.
The men were remanded in custody.
Detectives are still questioning a 20-year-old man on suspicion or murder.
They are also quizzing a 22-year-old woman on suspicion of assisting and offender.
