A HUDDERSFIELD man has been killed on Ben Nevis.

Andrew Tedder, 49, from Emley was killed after he slipped down a steep river gully on Britain’s highest mountain.

Mr Tedder was an insurance agent and had played for Emley Clarence Cricket Club.

His wife Sue served on the club’s committee while their son Jamie, who is in his 20s, played for the team.

Club secretary Philip Bunn said yesterday: “I heard something about the tragedy at the weekend. I understood he may have been taken ill while on the mountain and has fallen.

“It is a very sad story.”

“Andrew had played for us in the past if we were short, but hadn’t turned out as a player for the past few seasons.

“His son Jamie is a player although he hasn’t played much this summer.

“Andrew’s wife Sue has been on the committee at the club for years and they are a very well-known family in Emley.

Mr Tedder was named as the dead man by the Northern Constabulary yesterday following the accident on Friday.
