A POLICE cordon is in place after a house burnt to the ground in Huddersfield.

Firefighters and police fear residents may have been trapped in the home on Mount Zion Road when it burst into flames at 1.50am this morning.

Emergency crews were unable to get into the property due to the flames and falling debris.

A search will take place today when the ruined house off Kilner Bank is safe enough to enter.
