IT’S easy this competition lark – I can win it in my sleep.

That’s the view of young Logan Bedford, who has today been named as winner of the 2012 Examiner Baby of the Year competition.

The Lepton youngster captivated the readers when he had his entry photo taken while he was fast asleep.

But he had an excuse – after all, he was just four weeks old at the time! And he picked up 366 votes to finish well clear of the other contestants.

Mum Laura Robinson, 18, said: “He’s a really good baby and he does tend to sleep a lot.

“But he is developing into a right little character in his own right.

“I was ill when I heard that Logan had won the competition but the news really cheered me up.”

Laura and her partner, Roden Bedford, of Station Road, will collect the Baby of the Year trophy, £100 worth of shopping vouchers, and a 20in x 18in portrait of Logan.

Logan was the winner of the birth to nine months category, and there were three other category winners.

Fifteen-month-old Zaina Irfan took the title in the 10-18 month category.

She is the daughter of Irfan Alam and Dania Irfan, who have run the post office in Blackmoorfoot Road, Crosland Moor, for the past five years.

The couple also have a four-year-old son, Qasim.

Mr Alam was delighted that his daughter received 222 votes.
