A TEENAGER exposed himself to more than a dozen women in and around Dalton.

And now he has been sent to Crown Court for sentencing .

Kirklees magistrates heard yesterday that Glynn Marsden, 18, targeted women in their own homes, leering through windows and making obscene remarks.

In one case Marsden, of Rydal Drive, Dalton, sneaked into a woman’s home at 3am.

The victim, who had fallen asleep downstairs, woke to find Marsden performing a sex act in the doorway.

Marsden plagued the Dalton area between January and September this year, exposing himself in broad daylight and at night.

He was eventually trapped by DNA he left on a sofa outside a house in Highroyd Crescent, Moldgreen, in September.

Police issued an efit image of him in May in a bid to catch him.

Marsden admitted one offence of exposure at the house in Highroyd Crescent on September 25 and asked for 14 similar offences to be taken into consideration.

He also admitted breaching an anti-social behaviour order intended to stop him offending.

Marsden, with short dark hair and wearing a white Nike T-shirt, appeared before the Huddersfield court via video link from Doncaster Young Offenders’ Institution.

He had been in custody since the end of September.

Magistrates decided that their powers were not sufficient and sent Marsden to Leeds Crown Court for sentence.

He was further remanded in custody until December 20.

Miss Lauren Prentice, prosecuting, told how Marsden approached a house in Highroyd Crescent at 10pm on September 25.

He entered an enclosed rear garden and a woman inside saw him through the living room window.

Marsden pulled his trousers down and exposed himself.

The victim picked up the phone to call police and he fled.

Police found DNA on a sofa in the garden which matched Marsden’s.

Miss Prentice said Marsden exposed himself to women in other streets including Patterdale Drive, Robsons Drive, Langdale Drive, Blossom Court, Kirkstone Avenue, Rydal Drive and Wakefield Road at Dalton.

She said he entered a woman’s home in Heathergrove Fold, Dalton, at 3am and exposed himself there. He saw a woman in the street in Cow Heys, Dalton, and exposed himself there too, also making an obscene suggestion. Kirkstone Avenue was the scene of another incident.

Miss Prentice said Marsden had eight previous convictions for 16 offences but none of a sexual nature.

She said the prosecution was seeking a Sex Offences Prevention Order.

Mr Ian Whiteley, for Marsden, told the court a report had been compiled by psychologist Dr Adrian Skinner.

Mr Whiteley said: “What the report says as to the reason a person starts to commit an offence like this is for sexual gratification.

“Generally young men are quite prolific over a short period of time.”

Mr Whiteley said his client had been in custody since September 29 and added: “Effectively that has been punishment.

“What this young man needs now is some treatment and help.”
