STAFF at Huddersfield's iconic George Hotel have all lost their jobs this morning after the famous premises closed down for a second time in 12 months.
Doors at the hotel are currently being guarded by a bouncer and disgruntled workers have told The Examiner they were given the bad news at a meeting this morning and told to clear out their belongings.
It is thought all guests were turfed out of the 3* premises first thing this morning.
The hotel shut its doors in April last year but it was re-opened a day later after troubleshooters Licensed Solutions came in.
The company vowed to turn it round but admitted today it had given up.
Spokesman, Paul Whitfield, said they had closed it with regret
He said: "The owners of the George Hotel have been marketing the hotel for a number of months. Unfortunately, a sale has not been achieved and the hotel is forecast to continue to make losses."
