A CRIMINAL who was jailed for six years is facing another court hearing in April under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

Mark Francois, pictured, appeared alongside his cousin Mathew Francois at Bradford Crown Court yesterday and Judge David Hatton QC was told that the confiscation hearing would have to be fixed for two days beginning on April 22.

Last year 33-year-old Mark Francois, of Sunways, Mirfield, was given a lengthy prison sentence for offences involving mortgage fraud and drug dealing.

His cousin Mathew, 34, of Benny Parr Close, Soothill, Batley, was jailed for 29 months after he admitted producing cannabis.

Mark Francois’ partner Rebecca Wilson, 25, was given a suspended prison sentence for her limited role in the mortgage offence relating to their Mirfield home.

The court heard last year how Mark Francois, who ran legitimate car-related businesses, helped to pay for his enviable lifestyle through crime.

He lived in a luxury detached home filled with expensive furniture and used a car with a personalised number plate.

Officers seized £15,000 in cash from a laundry basket and financial inquiries showed payments into two bank accounts of around £75,000 in under four years.

Mark Francois claimed that only about 25% of the money came from criminal conduct which included supplying crack cocaine to an undercover police officer who was deployed in Huddersfield in late 2009 as part of Operation Greystoke.

Judge Hatton told Mark and Mathew Francois that they would both be brought back to court for the final confiscation hearing in April.
