A LORRY driver crashed in Station Road, Mirfield - trying to avoid a low bridge.
The driver heading from Huddersfield Road realised he may not make it beneath the bridge carrying the railway lines and swerved into the roadside.
His vehicle hit a telegraph pole and the driver was unsure if the cables it carried were live or not.
He alerted fire crews and police but was unhurt.
The road was closed for a short time.
